Lip Augmentation

Beautifully shaped and sensual lips are every woman’s dream. The natural volume of the lips is attributed to the collagen and hyaluronic acid they contain, as well as genetics. Lip fullness is achieved or emphasized with hyaluronic filler, which is one of the most popular aesthetic procedures.

Treatment

By injecting hyaluronic filler, the volume of the lips is increased, and their contour and edge are emphasized. During the examination, the amount, type, and density of the filler that will give the optimal result are assessed. An individual approach is essential because every pair of lips is unique. In our work, we use denser fillers that will give the lips the desired volume and emphasize the contour, like Juvederm Volift filler, as well as fillers that provide a soft, gentle, and natural look like Restylane Kysse and Evanthia filler. Applying anesthetic cream before the procedure makes the treatment extremely comfortable. We use various techniques depending on the lip shape, age, and desired result. Some of them are the retrograde technique, where a small amount of product is released into the edge or the wet part of the lip, or the Russian technique, “Russian lips“, where vertical punctures achieve greater volume without the undesirable so-called “ducky look”.

Candidates

If you want to emphasize the natural fullness and hydration of the lips, correct lip asymmetry, improve the appearance of vertical wrinkles on the lips, or increase their volume, this treatment is ideal for you. The prerequisite is that you are healthy or do not have severe conditions or diseases like a current infection at the application site, herpes, acute inflammation, fever, or severe allergies. The treatment can be performed on people over 18 years of age, with no age limit.

Results

The lasting effect on the lips depends on several factors: how often the filler is applied (the effect may be shorter for the first application), the volume applied, and the density of the filler. On average, the effect lasts between 6 months and a year. Usually, 0.5 or 1 ml is applied in one visit, and subsequent corrections are always possible. A more natural effect is achieved by gradually adding volume to thinner lips, while for fuller lips, a smaller amount of filler is recommended to avoid the effect of overfilled lips. Results are visible right after the treatment due to the applied volume and trauma from needle punctures. The final effect is seen in a few days after the lip swelling subsides.

Recovery

The treatment is not performed on individuals who have an infection at the application site at the time of the procedure, a current tumor or inflammatory disease, or a herpes virus infection. After the procedure, swelling can be expected to last two to three days. It is essential to note that the volume of swollen lips is not permanent and spontaneously passes, and occurs in almost everyone because the lips are delicate tissue and respond more vehemently to trauma. Ice can be applied to the lips several times a day for a minute or two by moving it circularly over the lips, reducing swelling. Bruising may occur, which naturally disappears in a few days, and slight sensitivity to touch. Much rarer side effects are allergic reactions and the appearance of granulomas at the application site.
