Thread Lifting

Thread lifts represent a revolutionary treatment for clients seeking significant facial lift and tightening without invasive surgery. This method is described as a “non-surgical facelift.” It involves specially designed biodegradable threads for lifting, sculpting, and revitalizing facial and body skin.

Treatment

Skin aging results in sagging skin, loss of collagen and elastin, and wrinkle formation. To achieve a lift, we insert threads under the skin that stimulate collagen synthesis at the point of application. The threads, together with the formed collagen, give a tightening and lifting effect. We use absorbable, biocompatible threads made of polydioxanone material, which are fully degraded locally within 6-8 months. There are several types of threads. Threads for regeneration and volume are used, as well as cog threads, which provide a top-notch lifting effect. The initial consultation will devise a treatment plan depending on the area treated, the age of the client, skin condition, and other factors. The number and type of threads that will give the desired effect are determined individually.

The treatment is ideal for:

• Tightening saggy parts of facial skin (lower jaw, chin)
• Tightening saggy body parts (abdomen, upper arms, thighs)
• Eyebrow lifting
• Cheek lifting
• Softening wrinkles around the eyes
• Reducing deep nasolabial folds, forehead wrinkles, and mouth corner wrinkles
• Sculpting face contours
• Improving the texture of facial and neck skin

After discussing with you, we select the needle length and thickness of the threads to be applied under the skin to achieve the desired effect. The treatment is minimally painful, but an anesthetic cream is used for prevention. Threads are introduced under the skin with thin, sterile needles or cannulas following a skin incision. Once the threads are inserted under the skin, they are pulled back to anchor and fixate them into the tissue, achieving the tightening or lifting effect. This way, we achieve 3D tissue modeling and the formation of new lines and contours. The duration of the treatment depends on the amount of thread applied under the skin, averaging between 20 to 60 minutes. The advantages of thread lifting include a minimally invasive method without cuts and scars, achieving a long-lasting effect, stimulating the formation of new collagen networks, and a facelift effect while retaining a natural appearance.

Candidates

There are no age limits; the treatment can be performed as a preventive method at the first signs of aging and with existing deep wrinkles. Ideal candidates are women and men between 30 and 60 years old with sagging mid-face and jawline skin, drooping eyebrows, loose neck skin, and facial volume loss. Younger patients, wanting subtle changes on the forehead or cheeks, sagging jawline, and neck skin, or those wanting to delay aging signs, are also excellent candidates. Threads are not used in autoimmune diseases, skin inflammatory diseases, keloids, patients with silicone implants at the application site, multiple allergic reactions, coagulation disorders, patients on antiepileptic therapy, cancer patients, and pregnant women.

Results

The initial effect of thread lifting is seen immediately after treatment due to thread tightening, while the full effect is visible after 2 to 3 months. The result lasts between 2 to 3 years, but depending on the patient’s wishes and the treatment’s effect, it can be repeated or supplemented.

Recovery

After the treatment, there might be minor bruising, swelling, mild pain, tightness, and tingling that can last a few days. In the first two weeks, you might feel a slight restriction in facial muscle movement and pain while laughing and chewing. Some patients might experience numbness or slight loss of sensation, which usually disappears within a few weeks. These side effects are expected and typically subside in a few days or weeks. Recovery after the treatment isn’t needed, and you can immediately return to your daily duties.

However, the following recommendations are:

• Apply ice or cold packs immediately after treatment and hold for up to 5 minutes
• For the first three nights, it’s recommended to keep the head elevated, and for the first five days, it’s advised to sleep facing up
• Gently apply makeup, gently clean and dry your face
• For the next three weeks, avoid sunbathing and tanning beds
• For the next three weeks, avoid facial treatments and massages, contact sports, saunas and baths, dental procedures, and excessive facial movements while talking, chewing, and yawning.
